IT Field Technician (NY/NJ)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused IT Field Technician to support our growing client base across New York and New Jersey. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with desktop support, hardware installations, network troubleshooting, and on-site client service. This role requires daily travel to client sites and a commitment to delivering professional and reliable technical support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site support for desktops, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices.
  • Install and configure operating systems, hardware, and software according to client needs.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues including routers, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on IT infrastructure at client locations.
  • Respond to service requests and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Document service calls, resolutions, and maintain accurate records of IT assets.
  • Assist with office moves, network installations, and structured cabling tasks.
  • Collaborate with remote support teams and escalate issues as needed.
  • Educate users on best practices, security, and basic troubleshooting steps.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and deliver high-quality customer service.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in IT support or field services.
  • Solid understanding of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and desktop environments.
  • Basic knowledge of networking principles (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS).
  • Hands-on experience with computer hardware diagnostics and repair.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to lift equipment (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks on-site.

Preferred Skills

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar IT certifications.
  • Experience with remote monitoring tools, ticketing systems, or MSP platforms.
  • Knowledge of mobile device management (MDM) and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
  • Familiarity with VoIP systems and printer troubleshooting.

Work Environment

This is a field-based position. The technician will be required to travel to various client locations throughout NY and NJ. Occasional evening or weekend work may be needed to support installations or critical issues. All travel expenses are reimbursed per company policy.
